Why does everyone in cyberspace now think that people will want to donate money to them after reading their blog. Seriously people, most people's blogs are not that great, including this one I know but still, Im not asking for donations.

In another direction: If you get a chance see the movie "The Eye". Although it is up for debate, I think it is a pretty good movie, better then good really, and worth seeing. It is a Thai movie sort of a horror film noir by the Pang brothers and I caught it on Sundance. I have always had a sick fascination with that genre of film anyway but see it if you get a chance.

I have received a couple of emails asking me why I don't have a comment section and complaining that some people don't like tag boards. I appreciate that fact; can honestly say I started this blog mostly to ramble in a non dead journal live journal way and was not really worried about comments but I am going to redo the code in this thing and add a comment section when I have time, sometime this year.

For now I have a paper to write.

Chris Rock is right.

It occurred to me that Chris Rock is right on in so many ways.

Listening to some late night show or other this week, cant remember which one as I was writing a paper at the same time, Chris was talking about hosting the Academy Awards. I dont watch these award shows as they are quite boring, but will watch this year just to see him if I am around that night. Chris was joking about the awards somewhat irreverently, which is appropriate I think. Chris said, and this is paraphrasing as I dont remember the exact words,I really dont care who wins, doesnt matter, although it would be nice to see Don Cheadle win as he would then get more money and more roles. I mean if Leonardo wins what... he gets twenty million and one dollars per film instead of twenty million. He also said "this country is "f--ked man, you cant get a parking space at the Academy Awards, for miles and miles and milesbut yet at the Nobel Peace Prize its like park wherever you want professor/doctor/ mr president there are plenty of spaces."

I guess you had to be there.

He is right of course. I actually had someone,(a student at this institution),ask me What exactly is the Nobel Peace Prize? No one I would associate with on a daily basis but still.

So, as a contribution to the Y generation, and in the hope that we will save the world. go here.

Very busy the next couple weeks but I am going to try to keep posting because my addiction is severe and the withdrawal painful.

Hunter S Thompson: May be rest in peace.

Hunter S Thompson: May be rest in peace. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me. No man is so foolish but he may sometimes give another good counsel, and no man so wise that he may not easily err if he takes no other counsel than his own. He that is taught only by himself has a fool for a master. We were somewhere round Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I can remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded, maybe you should drive..." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car. No point mentioning those bats, I thought. The poor bastard would see them soon enough. Hunter S Thompson. guardian uk

What is happening here?

For all the idiots out there that were too busy worrying about the fact that they were teaching evolution in the schools maybe you should have been worrying about the fact that the schools were not teaching the Constitution.

I am sorry I can't keep up with all the news on a daily basis due to school but better late then never.

Yuppie Parents Fail .

Yuppie Parents Fail: From USA today artcle.

Roy Baumeister, a psychology professor at Florida State University in Tallahassee, says he had "high hopes" for the benefits of boosting self-esteem when he began studying it more than 30 years ago. But his lengthy review of 18,000 articles, published in Psychological Science in the Public Interest, ended with the realization that only two clear benefits emerge from high self-esteem: enhanced initiative, which boosts confidence, and increased happiness.

"There is not nearly as much benefit as we hoped," he says. "It's been one of the biggest disappointments of my career."

Is this just another hole in the belt of the conservatives or am I paranoid.

Yes, let us totally disregard the benefits of being happy and having an enhanced initiative.

"To preserve an unclouded capacity for the enjoyment of life is an unusual moral and psychological achievement. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the prerogative of mindlessness, but the exact opposite: It is the reward of self-esteem." Our life needs to be about self-expression, not self-justification. If your goal is to prove you are "enough," the battle is already lost: it was lost on the day you conceded the issue was debatable. Nathaniel Branden

Happy February fourteenth.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Happy Valentine's Day to Blog land. That's me sitting and eating a box of chocolates. mmmmm

Valentine's Day? Does anyone care? Maybe a wife or a gf waiting for some kind obligatory gift. People feeling sad on Valentine's Day? I really just don't get it? It is a consumer holiday and yet we all march around like little ants purchasing things to prove what? To prove that we love and care for someone? how silly really. Think about it. I imagine there are quite few gf/wife abusers out there purchasing their obligatory Valentine gift at this very moment .

I think that it might be a good idea to start showing people you care about that you care a bout them all year long and I think Valentine's Day should be banned.

Bammy - Grammy

I will be brief but like any good blog addict I can't resist any reason to post here.

This is a small opinion piece and has no real significance one way or the other but sometimes I prefer to write my thoughts down. It is better then mumbling to myself.

. Award shows semi-sicken me but of them all the Grammy's are my favorite, if there is such a thing as a favorite award show. I like looking at music people, and often the music is good. Admittedly there are quite a few musicians songwriters that I listen to that will never find their way to a Grammy although they should, but still.

A few things, and this is not to be ugly but guys...WTF. I want to help the tsunami relief effort as much as anyone but I don't think you need to be all self congratulatory about laying ego's aside and doing that song. Big fucking deal, seriously. Also the song frankly sucked big time. Sorry it was just plain bad. Whoever made that decision needs to be fired. People should buy it to help, donate but don't bother downloading it after you buy it was a mess.

And please remember: Yea, you forgot and so did everyone else. Wake up.

Cut the Southern Rock I can live without Sweet Home Alabama and the remaining pieces of Skynard. Yawn. Shots of Penelope Cruz? Who cares. Billy Bob Thorton- who cares he is an egomaniac. Woa- Loretta Lynn- bless her heart, I don't think she was even sure which album she won for. Too many dead people awards. Ray Charles should have been it. Other then that it was ok with some good music. Most Importantly the hotness: Franz Ferdinand rocked, in an androgynous kind of way but they did rock. Alicia Keyes did rock. Yea Nelly youre cool and Queen Latifah is still the man. Green Day, yea I still love them and that album is good. Oh beast Melissa Etheridge did it fine, did she not?

That is it. Simple. I think they should have just let FF and Green Day take the stage for the night and told everyone else to go home.

addendum: And no Kayne West should not have won, Green Day should have and of course Ray Charles won as he is dead and I didn't say Loretta Lyn's album was bad I have never heard it I just said she was " kind of confused". She is like a hundred years old though so I understand. And I will punk slap you all the way to California so there.

No time.

No time this weekend, it has been crazy and I hope to get here tomorrow. I have a couple papers to write so I guess I am gonna be very average and watch the Grammy Awards and write a paper. I changed the design so for those who saw the Misha Gordin one I have put that on hold unless I can get permission to use a copyrighted photo. I am debating between this and another one so if it is changed the next time you come back I am not crazy. There is no cure for Blog addiction.

They do watch football here.

They do watch Football at NYU lucky for me that no one in my direct vicinity was overwhelmingly interested. There was a little noise from a few televisions down the hall and a few subtle moans, otherwise no one was bothersome and there was no overt testosterone provoked nonsense going on. Unless, of course I misinterpreted the moans, which I suppose is possible, although most people close their doors in that situation.

Took a quick trip to Hunter Mountain with my brother and Anna, my brothers new girlfriend, and a friend of my brothers, whom we will call, (boring rhetorical conversationalist), Sam. Sam happens to go to NYU too and believe me it is no great loss that I have not met him until this weekend as although a more annoying, sanctimonious twenty one year old probably does exist somewhere in the world Sam is most likely the winner of that category in NYC. He goes to Stern so I can forgive him in some way as my roommate last year also was a business major of some kind and the sel

f righteous attitude is prevalent. His conversation included random political ramblings of a right leaning nature which he could not back up with a single fact and he had no sense of humor. Thank God for Anna and like Josh wtf where did this guy come from? I do not know where my brother has obtained his list of friends over the last four years but he is very eclectic in this regard. If the guy had been funny, interesting or clever it would have been ok but he was neither funny interesting nor clever, just boring beyond belief in his self importance. There were a couple of other interesting characters along but I spent most of the day with Anna and Josh and my friend from Connecticut Louisa, whom I love and adore.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

She grew up in Vermont and I knew her when I was very young and became reacquainted with her two years ago while visiting my brother in Connecticut. No matter I got some exercise and had a pretty good time on the slopes and we rode home and it appears my old Bikini Kill CD had found its way into my brothers car we rode home singing Sugar.

Sure it is the kind of song you were singing with your girlfriends in ninth grade really loud but it was funny anyway and I used to love bikini kill so shoot me.

I wish it was feasible to have my car here but it isnt. I had tons to do last night when I started writing this so I had to give it up and start my work. I had to pick a project theme for my large format photo class and rewrite a paper that was due in an Anthro class and so I had to stop in the middle of this and save it for today. The problem is the train of thought is gone and a new day a new journal comes to mind. This becomes boring and I want to delete it but I wont. Does anyone really care which commercial was the best during the Super Bowl? I always wonder about that. They are commercials for God sake. I didnt watch it and I only caught one or two commercials and cant say I was impressed. I did not catch much the half time either but what I saw was boring as hell and I hear there is a call to bring back Janet Jackson next year. We all know Paul is dead anyway and has been since way before most of us were born? No? Are you sure? Do you even care? If he is not dead he certainly plays like he is. Give me Mick Jagger any day despite the fact that he too is beginning to look like a corpse.
